Executive Assistant & Administrator
Anselm House is seeking an Executive Assistant/Administrator for the Executive and Advancement Directors to provide stewardship and oversight of the organization’s internal operations and resources in order to advance the mission of helping students and faculty connect Christian faith & knowledge with all of life at the University of Minnesota.
Who We Are
Anselm House is a center for Christian studies with a mission to help students and faculty at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) connect Christian faith & knowledge with all of life. We provide hospitality and educational programs for students, and host conversations, lectures, and courses for the university community that are also open to the general public. Additionally, our Center for Faith & Learning hosts forums and events for the academic community at the University. For more than forty years, the Christian collegiate community of Anselm House has been equipping the next generation of servant leaders for faithfulness in the university, the church, and the world. Anselm House has historic roots in two organizations serving the University of Minnesota: Christian Student Fellowship (founded 1974) and the MacLaurin Institute (founded 1982).
Our Namesake
St. Anselm of Canterbury was an 11th century theologian, philosopher, monk, and church leader. He is remembered for, among other things, the concept of “faith seeking understanding.” He believed that our faith and our knowledge of the world were interdependent. His life of thoughtful faithfulness provides a model for our presence at the university.

Position Overview
The Executive Assistant will provide support to our Executive Director and as he heads up the staff Leadership Team and serves with our Board of Trustees, as well as provide support for our incoming Advancement Director. This person will also assist in the day-to-day operations at Melrose Station, including human resources, facilities management, IT asset management, and internal communications.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have passion for and personal alignment with Anselm House’s mission and vision. She or he will have outstanding organization and prioritization skills, strong attention to detail, and proven excellence in oral and written communication. She or he will be able to anticipate needs and follow through on details, work collaboratively across various teams, and have the ability to manage multiple activities and deadlines concurrently. Administrative and EA experience preferred. Basic knowledge of finance and budgeting, and Bachelor’s or equivalent degree required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Executive Assistant for Executive Director and Advancement Director, plus Board of Trustees Administration
- Conserve Executive Director and Advancement Director’s time by reading, researching, and routing correspondence; draft correspondence and documents; collect and analyze information.
- Maintain Executive Director and Advancement Director’s appointment schedules by planning and scheduling meetings, conferences, phone calls, and travel.
- Liaise with the Advancement Director and Development Team to support donor-facing work including collecting follow up notes and action items, and preparing for events.
- Coordinate weekly meetings of the Leadership Team and follow up with all team action items.
- Coordinate all details and communication with the Anselm House and Anselm Holdings Boards including setting and managing all committee and full board meetings, taking minutes, keeping the official record of board business, maintaining the Board Policy Manual, supporting periodic board retreats, and serving as the primary point of contact for trustees.
Operations Administration
- Work with the accounting administrator to maintain HR records and paperwork, including tracking sick time, PTO and other benefits; updating personnel files; and maintaining the employee handbook.
- Assist with the hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes by drafting job postings, scheduling interviews, creating and implementing training schedules, and conducting exit interviews.
- Monitor overall functioning and morale of the staff team, working with the Executive Director and Director of Operations to help maintain a workplace culture that is cohesive, collegial, and missionally aligned.
- Assist in managing and executing staff development functions and org-wide rhythms, such as quarterly planning meetings, staff seminars, and annual staff retreat.
- Support smooth building operations, working with the Hospitality team to ensure that all team members and ministry partners are trained in facilities and emergency procedures and that parking and space usage processes are followed.
- Work with the Office Administrator to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position at 40 hrs/week. (We are also open to part-time applicants who wish to work at least 30 hrs/week.) Starting salary will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidate (full-time range $45-60,000 base salary plus benefits).
